Re-tooling for the Data Revolution

Kaiser Fung will describe his vision for Principal Analytics Prep, the highly-lauded data analytics bootcamp in New York City. He will discuss the trends in data science and analytics hiring, and various paths to landing one of these lucrative jobs. A member of the Harvard Business School Startup Studio in New York City, Principal Analytics Prep is the brainchild of Kaiser Fung, a widely-cited industry expert and educator in business analytics and data science. He is the author of Junk Charts, an influential blog on data visualization; and Numbers Rule Your World and Numbersense, best-selling books that explore how data analytics transform decision-making in business and government.

Kaiser was founding director of the Master of Science in Applied Analytics degree at Columbia University, and has over 12 years of experience teaching data visualization and business analytics at Columbia and New York Universities. He is a frequent speaker at industry and research conferences.

Prior to founding Principal Analytics Prep, Kaiser established and managed data teams at SiriusXM Radio, Vimeo, and [X+1], a pioneering ad-tech startup. Kaiser is a graduate of Princeton and Cambridge Universities, and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Tina has been working in the healthcare and technology industry for more than 15 years at New York City’s top healthcare institutions, providing technical and analytic expertise for research and clinical programs. Her current work as Senior Data Analyst at the Mount Sinai Medical Center Emergency Department involves managing and analyzing large data sets (20-50 million records) for studies sponsored by the Agency of Health Research and Quality and the National Library of Medicine from one of the nation’s largest health information exchanges. Ms. Lowry’s vast experience in healthcare technology includes data cleaning, modeling, parsing of HL7 messages, identifying anomalies using SQL and Python.
